Almost 4 years ago, when I first began working at Definity First, I never could have imagined the culture and the values I would find here. The surprise has been wonderful.
Something I love about my job is that all of our members are very important, and their well-being is above everything else.
The Definity Runners taking a healthy lifetyle to the next level
When the internal Wellness campaign started, in addition to the Soccer team, someone came up with the idea of having a group of runners. I volunteered right off the bat. Before that, I had occasionally run, but I didn’t like it so much. The challenge was to do it more often and to get to the point where I was loving it.
And so it was, as time went on, members were added to the team, and we trained together. I liked it more and more.
Almost everyone knows the benefits of this kind of exercise:
- Weight control.
- Helps prevent high blood pressure.
- Strengthens immune system.
- Relieves stress.
And many more! What I liked the most about running with the Definity First team was that I was starting to notice these changes and benefits!
As I trained, I realized that my conditioning and stamina were improving. I was on a diet and running helped me lose weight. Along with the weight lost, I also noticed that I was running faster.
When the time came for my first race, the experience was amazing!

I would never have imagined that I could enjoy running as much as I have, and I know my experience is largely
contributed to being a part of the team at Definity First. To be able to train with such a dedicated and supportive group of people has helped us to not quit training.
Sometimes, it’s difficult to maintain a habit of exercise, especially when we do it alone. Sometimes we make excuses to avoid exercising, too. If you have the opportunity to join a sports team (whatever sport it is), don’t hesitate to try it! The results can be great.
The important thing is to really want to make a change and be healthy! Ooohh and persistence!
