What is the Microsoft Power Platform?

The Microsoft Power Platform is a frequent innovation from Microsoft, and this frequent pace of innovation makes these technologies to appear in a new and existing picture for customers.

Businesses are generating more data than ever before; data that is now connected and available to almost every part of organization and departments.

Taking advantage of those opportunities,
however, requires the ability to access, analyze, and use that data, and the Microsoft Power Platform will allow new ways to use meaningful data that no longer requires going to those
specialized users and report developers.

The ‘’Power Platform is a term for three Microsoft products: Power Bl, PowerApps and flow.

These three products provides solutions for customers to use, automate, analyze and surface data and can be used with Office 365, Dynamics 365 and also with other third-party apps and Microsoft services.

Why is the Microsoft Power Platform so important?

The evolution of the digital
age also depends on data and the amount of insights companies are creating and
are continually increasing. While all this data is inevitable, it is useless
unless companies gain to gain actual value from them.

In history automation, data
analysis or app creation would be the job of IT/Development teams, but this
would be time-consuming and would use valuable resources internally or be
costly if fulfilled with outsourcing.

In a worst-case scenario,
requesting the solution would have an immediate need and waiting for weeks, and
this might cause internal delays of delivery technical elements.

As mentioned above, this creates a need for Microsoft’s
Power Platform, that will enable data democratization. This also means that a
normal person without IT- knowledge can have access and ability to this
information, providing three technologies that allow staff to do more with their
data themselves without coding knowledge.

Microsoft’s Power Platform is divided in three powerful products

Microsoft Power Apps

This is a low-code approach to custom app
development, allowing users to quickly create apps with a ‘point and click’
approach.

This enables the following:

  • Build more device friendly apps quickly without putting pressure on the IT team.
  • Connect and control data from business applications, such as Dynamics 365 and Office 365 (and also third-party apps).

Microsoft Flow

It allows the creation of automated
workflows between your Microsoft services or other third-party applications,
which allows staff to avoid carrying out repetitive tasks and save valuable
time. Using automated templates, and setting up triggers, alerts,
automated emails, push notifications and much more, with no coding required.

Power BI

This is a business analytics
tool that allows you to easily connect to data sources, create visuals and gain
business intelligence quickly.

Power BI allows the following:

  • Analyze easily and automatically complex data.
  • Use natural language to query data and get faster results.

How does the Power Platform fit in the wider
Microsoft strategy?

Microsoft's Power Platform connects a huge amount of sources; includes third-party apps such as Google Analytics and Twitter, however, it is extremely powerful when working with Office 365 and Dynamics 365.

This platform is a big
investment from Microsoft and will include huge development as the product
reaches its maturity level.

Microsoft is focusing now for binging all of the technologies together, and Microsoft’s Power Platform it’s a perfect example of it and it will play a key player role – connecting services like Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and Azure easily with a low-code/no-code approach.
